🌱 Memorial Day Parade + Chef Connected to Queens Service

Hello, Queens. I’m here in your inbox today to keep you up to date with everything you need to know about what’s happening in town. I wish you all a nice day!

First, today’s weather forecast:

Generally sunny, hot and humid. High: 93 Low: 61.

Here are the top three stories from today in Queens:

  1. The nation’s largest Memorial Day parade returned to Queens yesterday. The Mayor of Queens and the Governor of New York both spoke at the parade to honor fallen service members and to speak about the mass shooting in Buffalo earlier this month. The parade had taken a two-year hiatus during the pandemic. (NBC New York)
  2. A non-profit connected chef, based on Long Island, provides fresh food to residents of Queens. “We believe everyone should have the right to eat healthy at home,” said co-founder Omar Bravo. Bravo and his wife are both chefs who left the restaurant industry to help their community. Today, Connected Chef delivers free bags of produce and cereal to more than 550 families each week. See the link to learn more and donate to the cause. (FOX 5 New York)
  3. More than a dozen flat tires were found on multiple NYPD traffic vehicles in Queens over the weekend. Police say a traffic cop discovered the defaced vehicles in an unsecured lot on Thompson Avenue near 30th Place in Long Island City around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. No suspects have been announced.
