A playlist of New Houston restaurants and bars, fall 2022

Even though 2022 is drawing to a close, Houston’s restaurant and bar scene is still going strong, with many new venues popping up across the city. Tanglewood – Three Brothers Bakery He opened his fourth store at 574 Chimney Rock Road. The Jewish Bakery’s first location since opening its third location in 2014 is crafting an assortment of cakes, cookies, pies, breads, and more, along with a large selection of coffees and beverages.

washington ave – Abbas Danani, blogger and restaurateur of Houston Eats, has officially opened a longtime pop-up burger joint, Bodega burgerat 4520 Washington Street. The restaurant, which is designed to resemble iconic New York-style convenience stores called bodegas, has already made a splash for cheeseburgers, fries, and chopped cheeses inspired by the Big Apple.

montrose – vibrant It reopened on Fairview Street in 1931, and features a new menu designed by executive chef Patty Delgado and a nutritionist with the hopes of making every meal nutritious and anti-inflammatory, according to an edition. Highlights include the braised beef tacos on sweet potato cassava tortilla, sorghum pancakes with coconut yogurt probiotic cream, coleslaw, and squash ravioli. The restaurant has also expanded its coffee offerings, with house-made pecan and cashew milk and items such as lattes, nut and seed bread, cashew cream, bone broth, and spinach and cauliflower pizza crust available for grab.

sugar land – Inspired by Italian-American restaurants in New York, restaurateur Ben Berg officially opened PP Italian Bistro & Bar On November 8th, it was moved from Memorial to 16250 City Walk in Sugar Land Town Square, and the restaurant reopened to serve Italian fare, including homemade pasta, pizza, protein-focused appetizers, and hero sandwiches and subs. Diners can decide to indulge in the extensive wine list or cocktails created by Houston’s James Beard Award-winning Alba Huerta in her dining room, which seats 200, on the pergola-covered patio, or the 18-seat horseshoe-shaped bar area, which features live pianist music from 6pm to 10pm from Wednesday to Saturday. BB plans to expand its offering in 2023 with a weekend brunch menu.

Highlands – The Goode Company hospitality group has opened its third location in Jude Company for Kitchen and Cantina At 1801 Yale Street on November 8, it serves up its Tex-Mex staples, including made-to-order guacamole, campechana, pulled pork, green chile empanadas, and pork tamales. The restaurant has other locations in the Memorial and Woodlands area.

Highlands – Jason Cho, owner of Duck & Pop, is going beyond Korean fried chicken with his latest steakhouse, Meat. Located at 2805 White Oak Drive, Suite 100, the restaurant began dinner service on November 11, cooking up first-rate meats, including dry cuts of prime beef, table American and Japanese wagyu.

River Oaks – Southern California Sushi Restaurant Sushi + cocktail bar It makes a slash in River Oaks, with its bright pink decor paired with cute cherry blossom trees, black cedar rolls, and tiki cocktails. Located at 4200 Westheimer Road in elevated 200 Park Place, the 2,800-square-foot restaurant seats 80 and features a full-service sushi bar and charming patio overlooking Mid Lane. Daily Dose Hospitality Group, which also owns Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, opened the restaurant on November 17, marking its second location outside of Orange County, California.

River Oaks – Woodlands Italian Restaurant Zakynthos Kitchen His second location in the River Oaks area opened on November 7, bringing Houston’s Neapolitan-style pizza, entrées like beef tenderloin, and savory pasta dishes like pappardelle alrage de ossobuco and table-side black truffle pasta to Houston. Katie – International Dim Sum Series Tim Ho Wan He opened his first Texas location at 23330 Grand Circle Boulevard, Suite 180 on November 7, with his most famous dishes like baked pork buns, har gow, shu mai, and more.

kingwood – Kulach Shoppe It opened its third location in Kingwood at 4521 Kingwood Drive. Similar to the Heights location, the new location will offer kolaches and specialty coffees and will have a dog-friendly outdoor patio and select tables indoors with a window for take-out or pick-up orders. The local owners plan to source smoked brisket from Tin Roof BBQ at nearby Humble to use in their pastries.

downtown – Downtown Dining Bungalow Opening in mid-November at 407 Main Street, it offers a two-level dining experience with a rooftop patio with views of downtown and a modern-style private bar hidden behind a bookshelf on the second floor. Guests entering the restaurant are greeted with a glass of champagne upon arrival and can peruse a menu featuring premium steaks, including a 32-ounce Tomahawk rib eye with your choice of grilled foie gras, truffle herb butter, or Oscar toppings. ; seafood dishes such as lobster tail and whole branzino; and other appetizers, including wagyu meatball noodles, and snacks, such as lamb ribs. Desserts are also a delight, with flaming Alaskan bread, macaroons, lemon pies, and bread pudding.

rice village – James Beard Award-nominated Chef Aaron Bludorn has opened his second restaurant navy blue On November 18, it was New York chef Jerrod Zivchak. Western University – Mediterranean restaurant Kraft beta It opened its second location at 5172 Suite C, Buffalo Speedway on November 19. The restaurant serves classic Lebanese cuisine rooted in the heritage of Chef Rafael Nasr. Highlands – The liquor lounge in EZ His in-house dive opened at 3302 White Oak Drive on Oct. 24 and features a robust drinks menu with ice-cold beers, the famous E-Z Margarita, a martini made with gin, vermouth mix, olives, and lemon peel, plus cocktails like the Hillbilly Highball Made with salted peanut butter, Mexican cola, and peanuts. It also has a Texas-esque menu, with pepper cheese served with hot pickled okra, hot dogs, chili peppers, and chili pancakes.

Fifth Wing / East End – East River 9, Houston’s newest golf course, driving range, and pickleball facility, the driving range opened on October 28 and its golf course on November 4.
