Middleburg-based Ursula Landsrat Animal Rescue Fund and Community Foundation for Northern Loudoun and Fauquier Counties announced Monday that $65,000 grants will go to 26 nonprofit animal rescue organizations across Virginia, including several in Loudoun County, according to a news release.
Because of her love of animals, Ursula Landsrath founded the Virginia Animal Rescue Fund as an independent organization in 2008, and distributed over $1 million to Virginia-based animal rescue organizations before closing grant submissions in 2017 when she became seriously ill.

“Since Ursula’s death in 2019, ULARF has provided $209,200. Our committee hopes to build on that, and increase our fund base to serve more Virginia animal nonprofits,” said Marie Johnson, chair of the Ursula Landsrat Animal Rescue Fund Grants Committee.in the current situation.
