Whether you live in the northern United States or the deep south, the summer heat can be brutal, especially during this year’s current heat wave. And you don’t have to be a foodie to know that ice cream is the perfect treat to beat the summer heat.
So what’s better? How about ice cream in a range of flavors co-owned by a famous disney star?
Disney actress Selena Gomez, who has starred in Disney productions such as The suite life on deck, the Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montanaand Princess Protection Program.
In 2021, Gomez became an owner and investor in a New York-based ice cream company called Serendipity. Later that year, Gomez teamed up with Korean pop music group Blackpink to release a single simply called “Ice Cream” which became very popular on the charts. Quite fortuitous, right?
To celebrate her new single, Gomez helped create a new ice cream flavor for the Serendipity brand. Serendipity’s Cookies and Cream Remix was born, featuring pink vanilla ice cream with chunky fudge swirls and cream-filled cookie chunks, according to Forbes.
“Selena helped us design the flavor,” explained Serendipity CEO Mark Smolin. “Selena is awesome; she’s got a ton of vision, and she’s a lifelong fan of the [New York City] restaurant. We worked with her on the flavor we had, and she tweaked it, which we really did in a couple of weeks.

The festive flavor of Serendipity ice cream even had very specific meanings, with hints of black and pink to pay homage to the pop group Selena Gomez recorded her new single with.
“Pink ice cream is a mix of vanilla ice cream with pink flavored coloring, which is how we got the pink,” Smolin said. “The black, we have the fudge swirls, and the chocolate cookies work to make a black and pink combo.”
Now Selena Gomez has brought together two of her business ventures — Serendipity Ice Cream and Rare Beauty — to donate 1% of every ice cream purchased to the Rare Impact Fund to support mental health resources, from Eat This, Not That. The Rare Impact Fund helps people get the mental health resources they need.
“Raising awareness about mental health is something very personal to me,” Gomez said. “I’m so proud that Serendipity Brands is committed to supporting the Rare Impact Fund and helping people access much-needed mental health resources.”
The creators of the Serendipity line of flavors apparently like to think outside the box. Even Blue Bell doesn’t have flavors like humble piefeaturing peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter swirls, chocolate chunks and graham chunks, Forbidden Broadway Sundaefeaturing chocolate ice cream with brownie bits and fudge swirls, Unicorn Bliss Sundaefeaturing vanilla ice cream with pink and blue cookie dough pieces and a glitter swirl, and A Christmas Story mint based on the popular 1983 Christmas movie and featuring mint ice cream with red and green candies and a swirl of chocolate cookies.
The best part is that Serendipity Ice Cream isn’t just for candy lovers in New York City. Serendipity will ship its pints of creamy, frosted treats all over the United States. Shipments arrive in a cooler with dry ice that keeps the ice cream cold.
