Ice Cream Wars: Fox Meadows Creamery (Lebanon Valley food reviews)

Editor’s note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley restaurants and food attractions as Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple have strived to offer unbiased reviews of the food and drink establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to partner with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Enjoy your lunch!

As we continued our Ice Cream Wars journey, we found ourselves at the southern end of the valley, just over the mountain.

Today we visited a popular place among the locals in the valley. Would it meet our expectations?

Located along Route 322 in Clay, Lancaster County, Fox Meadows Creamery offers homemade ice cream as well as several cold treats made with their ice cream. Building on their popularity, they recently opened a second location in Leola.

It’s not uncommon to have queues outside the front door when you arrive. If so, don’t worry, it’s rarely more than a 15 minute wait. When it’s your turn at the counter, you can sample as many flavors as you like and order the best treat for you.

For today’s deal, we had a Baked Fox ($6.50), a signature Fox Meadow treat. We also had two scoops of ice cream (lush lemon and Belgian biscuit butter) in a fresh waffle bowl ($6.65).

Baked fox is an outer biscuit shell. We chose chocolate chips with chocolate covered strawberry ice cream in the middle. You can choose your ice cream and cookie flavor for this treat. It becomes a lot of sweetness. As with any other treat here, each is handcrafted by the many staff available and very well presented.

Each season, Fox Meadows offers a few flavors of ice cream as featured flavors. Today one was Belgian biscuit butter. This churned dairy concoction comes with cookie bits and a creamy texture. Our second flavor was a very lemony lush lemon. Lemon flavor lovers will not be disappointed by this selection.

Fox Meadows makes their own waffle bowls/cones there. If you order a few scoops, get yourself one. As with most everything you get here, it’s the epitome of top-notch quality. It’s an ice cream shop that does it well. Fantastic ice cream, lots of staff, wide selection, unique treats and a play area for the kids.

We give this place 🍦
