John McKinney said his grandfather was like a father to many in the community.

“So a lot of people have chosen him to replace the parent who’s gone or just for advice and wisdom. He’s full of wisdom,” John McKinney said.

Even though he never finished high school, John McKinney said he had so much knowledge.

“But it’s just an open book, he loves everyone loves people. He won’t do anything unless God tells him to,” John McKinney said.

When asked why John McKinney thinks his grandfather lived to be 104, John replied by the grace of God.

“It’s nothing that he does. It’s just by the grace and mercy of God that allowed him to be this on earth,” John McKinney said.

John McKinney has pointed out how special it is to be able to have his grandfather for 104 years and more.

“I don’t think I use words to describe how we feel,” John McKinney said. “We’re lucky to still have him around.”

John McKinney said that when his grandfather started telling a story, he would pick up his phone and record a memo.

“And he’ll talk about things I’ve never heard him talk about,” John McKinney said. “I’m grateful to still have it to this day.”
