Reasons for selling, when presented, usually do not mention economic difficulties, but often include the owner’s retirement or lack of time to actively manage the business.

Names and locations are generally excluded, but there are occasional exceptions.

Belmore visits Newport every two weeks to support the more than 12 paid WhatsUpNewp contributors to land across Rhode Island, a place they’ve called home for 39 years.

Belmore is a member of Local Independent News Publishers Online (LION), the Association of Professional Journalists, and the North American Snowsports Journalists Association.

In 2020, Belmore was named Member of the Year by LION and won the Newport County Arts and Culture Alliance Award.
