Month-long series of events including “Dinner, Drinks and Drag”, Outdoor Dance/Skate/Co-Ed Party, Youth Story Hour and Teen Zine Workshop, PRIDE Celebration and more.
Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Frances Nwajei and the Medford PRIDE Planning Committee are proud to announce a month-long series of events to celebrate the month of PRIDE. For the first time, the City of Medford plans to celebrate PRIDE with a combination of events, workshops, interfaith gatherings, and more. PRIDE Month in Medford will begin with a flag-raising event in front of City Hall on June 2n/a and culminate with a PRIDE celebration at Andrews Field on June 26e.
In early 2022, Mayor Lungo-Koehn convened a PRIDE planning committee, led by Nwajei, to help plan the city’s celebrations. Six committee members along with numerous volunteers and city staff worked to plan a series of events across multiple platforms and media to allow members of the Medford community of all ages and interests to participate. Celebrations will include:
- Wednesday, June 1, 7:00 p.m.: Interreligious ceremony organized by Grace Church
- Thursday, June 2, 2:45 p.m.: Raising of the flag at the town hall
- Thursday June 2 7:00h: Dinner, drinks and drag at Carroll’s Restaurant (18+)
- Thursday 9 June 6:00h: Queer Art Exhibit at the Unitarian Universalist Church
- Thursday, June 9, 7:00 p.m.: Transgender 101 hosted by Medford Public Library
- Friday, June 17, 11 a.m.: LGBTQ+ Storytime hosted by Book Wonder at 4GoodVibes
- Saturday, June 18, 7:30 p.m.: Dance/Skate/Mingle Party in the Town Hall parking lot
- Tuesday, June 21, 3 p.m.: PRIDE Zine Workshop for Teens Hosted by Medford Public Library
- Friday, June 24, 3:30 p.m.: Lindsay Munroe sings at the Medford Public Library
- Sunday, June 26, 1:00 p.m.: Medford PRIDE Celebration at Andrews Field
