This week the pets have been spayed or neutered and are looking for their forever homes. Dog fees $80 unless noted. Cat adoptions are $65 unless indicated. Come meet them.

Animal Services currently administers a special fee for adoption. All cats and dogs are available for $20.

Adoption hours are 10:30 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays, excluding holidays. Call 704-878-5424 for more information.

However there are delay slots of some days until noon, as we have very few staff. Please watch our Facebook daily for delays.

To become a volunteer, foster owner, or both, visit co.iredell.nc.us/149/animal-services-control, call the volunteer coordinator at 704-878-5424, ext. 3507, or stop by the shelter for an order from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.

A nursery is a great way to get dogs out of the shelter for a respite and a great opportunity to bring them in front of potential adopters that they won’t see while at the shelter.

The Books & Buddies reading program is now running. No appointment necessary. Reading times are 10:30am-4:30pm on weekdays and 10am-1:30pm on Saturdays. Bring your own book or borrow one from the shelter and grab a chair. Participants who require hours for school or community service will need to track them themselves. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Because of the space, only one reader at a time is allowed in the catroom.

Iridale County Animal Services also holds rabies clinics from 6 to 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. The fee is $5 cash only. For information, call the shelter at 704-878-5424.

Urgent: Our adoption program is seriously downgrading both wet and dry food for cats.

Our caregivers are real lifesavers in providing the necessary TLC to kittens/kittens who desperately need them in order to get the best possible outcome they can get, and we don’t want them to have to provide the essential care items needed to care for them. This is where you can help!

We need dry and wet cat food, as well as litter to send home with every sitter. For dry cat food size, bags of 3.15 pounds or 6.3 pounds are the easiest to handle.

If you can help, our address is 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville, NC 28625.
