Shoplifting, check shenanigans, underage drinking and a downed can of Red Bull

Haverford Police Chief John Viola released the report blotter for the week of September 7-13:

Disorderly conduct

On September 7, police arrested a 23-year-old man at 10:27 p.m. in Hathaway Lane and Haverford Road for disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled substance and drugs. The man lives in the 1600 block of Locust Street, Norristown.

Retail theft

A 38-year-old woman was charged with retail theft at Giant in the 100 block of West Township Line Road at 4:18 p.m. on September 8. She resides in the 1200 block of North 54th Street, Philadelphia.

Retail theft

A 40-year-old man from the 500 block of West Huntingdon Street, Philadelphia, was charged with retail theft at Kohl’s in the 200 block of West Chester Pike on September 11 at 1:53 p.m.

Identity theft

A resident of Block 100 of Fawn Lane reported that someone used her identity to open a savings account and withdrew $20,000 from her checking account on September 7 at 4:31 p.m.

Retail theft

A man stole $63.57 worth of merchandise from Smoketown Vapes in the 1200 block of West Chester Pike on September 8 at 1:16 p.m.

Registered vehicle

Thieves entered a vehicle in the first block of West Hillcrest Avenue. The theft was reported Sept. 8 at 2:45 p.m. $55.00, two pairs of glasses and a Yeti mug were stolen.

Fraud

A victim from the 700 block of Wynnewood Road reported that she received an email from someone claiming to be from Norton Anti-Virus. The victim provided the subject with remote access to his computer before acknowledging the scam. She notified the police on September 8 at 6:17 p.m.

Fraud

September 8, 5:40 p.m.: Residents of the 500 block of Mill Road discover that three checks have been fraudulently cashed. An amount was not available.

Flight

A motorcycle license plate was lifted in the first block of Brookline Boulevard on September 9 at 10:07 p.m.

Falsification

A victim reported that two checks were altered and someone tried to cash them after they were mailed out on September 9 at 1:32 p.m. The victim lives in the 300 block of East Hathaway Lane.

Vandalism

The rear window of a vehicle was smashed in the first block of Kathmere Road on September 9 at 4.42pm.

Violation of liquor law

Boys aged 15 and 16 were cited for underage drinking at Veterans Field behind the municipal building on September 10 at 6:39 p.m.

Disorderly conduct

A 23-year-old man from the 200 block of Kenmore Road was cited for disorderly conduct in the 300 block of Strathmore Road on September 11 at 8:08 a.m.

Flight

A spare tire was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2800 block of Haverford Road on September 12 at 12:52 p.m.

A vehicle was reported stolen from the U-Haul on East Township Line Road on September 12 at 1:39 p.m.

Identity theft

A man in the 3000 block of Robin Lane reported to police at 5.42pm on September 12 that someone had used his identity to file a claim for unemployment benefits.

Retail theft

An unknown man walked into the Acme in the 600 block of West Lancaster Avenue on September 13 at 7:15 p.m., drank a Red Bull, and walked out without paying.

During the week, police issued 34 travel violations, 53 warnings, 5 non-traffic citations and 78 parking tickets.
