The latest food safety violations from inspecting restaurants in the Lebanon governorate

Here are the latest Lebanon County food safety violations, as documented by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Inspections are taken as a “snapshot” of the day and time, and should not necessarily be taken as general indicators of the cleanliness of the establishment. Violations are often corrected before the inspector leaves the site. Restaurants are found to be in compliance unless otherwise noted.

6 – 501.111 Pest Control
Potential insect harboring areas were observed within the food facility in the central setting area due to live cockroach observation. There was a large amount of old sugar leftovers spilled behind the refrigerator where the cockroach was observed. Proper cleaning and elimination of the holes will help eliminate pests.

4 – 602.13 non-food contact surfaces
The sides of the blender, non-food contact surfaces, are not cleaned frequently to prevent dirt and dust buildup.

A fan in the toilet room and a fan in the middle setting room, and surfaces that come into contact with food are not frequently cleaned to prevent dirt and dust from accumulating.

6 – 201.13 Ground and wall connections, covered and sealed or sealed
The intersection of the floor / wall near the mixer and the floor by the mixer is in very poor condition. These areas cannot be cleaned properly and provide a shelter area for pests.

It was noted that the interior of the ice maker, which is a food contact surface, had food residue and was not clean to look and touch.

5 – 501.115 Maintenance of waste areas and attachments
The exterior surfaces of the used grease/oil tank behind the building have a thick build-up of grease and debris, and there is a large amount of grease on the floor that needs to be cleaned.

6 – 301.11 Availability of detergent for washing hands
The hand wash basin in the front food preparation area does not contain single-use towels, continuous towels, or an air dryer. The inspector was shown a common cloth towel to dry hands after washing.

4 – 501.12 cutting surfaces
Deep grade cutting board noted not to reappear or dispose of as required.

4 – 602.13 non-food contact surfaces
The refrigerator door, which is a non-food contact surface, is not cleaned frequently to prevent dirt and dust from accumulating.

6 – 301.14 Hand washing banners
The hand washing sign is missing in the men’s room.

6 – 501.112 Removal of dead or trapped birds, insects, rodents and other pests
The food establishment does not remove dead or trapped pests from the pest control equipment frequently, as evidenced by the old mouse observed in the pest control equipment in the warehouse area.
