The bad cholesterol or low density lipoprotein is the one that can cause blockages in the arteries, on the other hand, the good cholesterol or high density lipoprotein is the one that helps the functioning of the liver. When LDL is high, it increases the risk of heart disease and therefore it is important to control cholesterol levels.
Your diet and workout routine as well as your lifestyle play a very important role in your cholesterol levels. Eating excessive amounts of sugar or processed foods or saturated fats can increase your drinks with cholesterol. Likewise, high-sugar drinks and added sodas can raise your cholesterol levels. However, you can adopt these eating habits that can help you lose cholesterol if your levels are high.
  1. Include green tea in your diet. This drink contains antioxidants and catechins that can help lower bad cholesterol levels. In addition, the presence of caffeine helps to increase the level of good cholesterol. Black tea may also help lower cholesterol levels, but not as much as green tea, as green tea contains higher amounts of catechins.
  2. Limit soda consumption. Sodas contain high amounts of sugars that can raise your cholesterol levels. Drinking these sodas not only increases your LDL, but also lowers your HDL level, which helps eliminate LDL from the body.
  3. Add soy milk to your diet. Instead of cow’s milk, add soy milk to your diet. Replacing your regular cow’s milk with soy milk may help lower LDL cholesterol levels.
