We all know as we age our bodies change whether we like it or not, but there are some bad habits that can hurt us more in our fifties than in our earlier younger years. Although we may look and feel younger, our bodies need more care and attention as we get older and we eat this, not that! Dr. Susanna Wonga A licensed chiropractor and health expert with Twin Waves Wellness says, “The most important thing for people over 55 to stop taking it is drinking a lot of alcohol. Alcohol is metabolized differently than food, and leads to an increase in visceral fat that appears as belly fat. Visceral fat leads to some of the worse diseases as you age—cancer, high cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, diabetes—so this is a disease where you want to do everything you can to stay under control as you age. The good thing is that visceral fat is completely manageable, and changing how much you drink and improving the way you eat can reduce it, allowing you to live a longer, healthier life.”
